暑期學生專題研究計畫

Summer Student Program Website 為銜接天文教育及天文研究,本所每年為大學生舉辦暑期學生專題研究計畫,招收國內外有志投身於天文或天文物理研究的大三或大四學生。錄取的學生會在本所研究人員指導下進行為期兩個月的專題研究,執行專業的天文或工程工作,計畫期間本所提供同學獎助金。

本計畫的主要目的為讓學生有機會接觸專業天文研究的各個面向。除了在老師指導下從事研究外,還有一系列入門的演講,介紹學生不同的研究主題,包括光學、紅外線、電波天文學及相關工程等,領域則涵蓋恆星形成、太陽系、計算流體動力學、遠近星系、宇宙學等。計畫結束時學生需以英語簡報研究結果,並繳交書面報告。

本計畫幫助學生藉由近距離解觸天文研究,來衡量自己將來是否適合以天文為職志。自民國87年起至今已有數百位國內外學生參與本計畫,部分的暑期學生在專題研究計畫結束之後,繼續從事研究並於科學期刊發表論文,也有部分學生進入國內外天文研究所攻讀碩士或博士學位。
